If you are looking for the perfect sanctuary to spend your vacation, St. George Island in northwest Florida’s Panhandle coast is a spectacular destination that offers secluded beaches and a serene environment throughout your entire stay.

This place is totally different from other beaches that are too commercialized and bustling with tourists. There are no fancy restaurants or clubs and everything is back to basics. The charm of St. George Island lies on the beauty of nature and the laid-back feel that surrounds the island.

Tourists who want to experience what Old Florida is all about can appreciate it in Franklin Countys well-preserved history, old-fashioned seafood industry and even sample it through the mouth-watering Southern cuisine. For accommodations, St. George Island rentals offer a wide selection of vacation homes, condos or cottages. A very limited number of hotels operate in the area. There are no high-rises getting in the way of the skyline so tourists have the opportunity to look at the moon and the stars and watch the sunrise and sunset.

St. George Island and the rest of the Forgotten Coast boast of a colorful past. Vacationers can easily join a city walking tour through the concierge facility of their St. George Island rental and go to different significant areas such as Apalachicolas National Historical District dating from the 1830s. Cape St. George Lighthouse, the Dixie Theater, John Gorrie State Museum, Chestnut Street Cemetery and Apalachicola Maritime Museum are also great must-stops.

Festive events are plentiful in St. George Island all year round. The island is famous for events such as the Seafood Festival, Annual SGI Mullet Toss, Oyster Spat Festival and so much more. It is advisable that for occasions such as these, tourists book St. George Island rentals in advance to assure accommodation.

How To Decide On Orlando Holiday Villas Or Hotels

April 17th, 2009 No comments

So you’re thinking of booking Orlando holiday villas but can’t decide whether they are better than hotels for your vacation package. In the Disney area there are hundreds of both sorts of accommodation to choose from so which best suits your plans and budget? What are the pros and cons of each option?

The best known hotels are the resort hotels in Disney World and these may be your best option if you have a small group or if you intend to use almost all of your vacation in Orlando out and about in Walt Disney’s theme parks. Check out the vacation package deals that give you park passes as part of the total cost and compare this to your expenses if you had to buy tickets separately. Factor in the benefits of free transportation (although some local hotels offer free shuttle buses) and extended park hours (if applicable) and this could be the best option for your budget.

One cost to factor into your planning is the car expense. If you plan to fly down to Florida and stay at a hotel offering park transportation, you may not need to hire a car. Even if you’re driving down so you have no car hire cost, you can still avoid parking and gas charges if the hotel can provide you with the transportation you need.

Some families prefer to stay in a hotel so that the children can find playmates when playing at the hotel pool. For some parents this takes the pressure off having to keep the kids amused all the time and it often helps stop the squabbling between siblings if there is someone else to play with. Many of the hotels often have other activities like video games or pool tables or ping pong which help to stop the kids getting bored.

To conclude the examination of hotels, also factor in the quality and security benefits you get. Security: you can pay by credit card and take comfort from the protection that the card company provides if anything goes wrong. Quality: leading hotel chains promote their brand by standardizing the style, size and extras that they supply across the board.

How does this compare with an Orlando holiday villa?

One big advantage in using an Orlando holiday villa is the cost benefit if your family or group is large. The majority of vacation home owners or management companies price their homes independently of the party size. So a 5 bedroom 4 bathroom home that sleeps up to 12 people could be far more economical than the equivalent number of hotel rooms. In addition, children sleep in their own bedrooms, leaving parents to get a good night’s sleep in private just as they do in their own home.

And wouldn’t you like to have some sort of eating-in facility while you’re on vacation so that you’re not forced to go to the fast food place or family diner whenever you want to eat or drink? Orlando holiday villas come complete with some level of dining area and a fully equipped kitchen so you can enjoy a snack or even a formal meal whenever you wish.

Orlando holiday villas also offer more in the way of laid-back relaxation. When you want a little time away from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks, your own private screened pool is a great way to chill out, complete with towels and pool toys on hand when required. Tire the family out by encouraging them to use the games room that enthusiastic vacation rental home owners have built – pool and foosball tables, ping pong and darts are just some of what’s available. And keep them entertained when they’re ready to watch the multiple TVs and DVD players many homes now include.

So make your own choice – what’s most attractive to you, hotel rooms or Orlando holiday villas?

Save Big Money! 10 Great Deals in Myrtle Beach for Spring Break

February 11th, 2009 No comments

So a vast amount of students will be on spring break March 9 through March 13. There are close to two million students out of school at this time, so the rates in this release are for those dates. The other dates probably have similar rates, but you will have to check that.

Please understand that I can’t change the rates after I publish this post. That means that it is possible at the time you are reading this the rates are more expensive, or if you are lucky, cheaper. The key fact here is, however, that this can guide you on what hotels or condos to look at when booking your trip.

The Polynesian Beach & Golf Resort is a condo or vacation rental property right on the beach, they even have ocean front rooms. The average nightly rate is about thirty one dollars. About one in two guests that stay there recommend it.

Grand Strand Days Inn is located directly across the street from the beach. You can get a room there starting at about $34.00. Sixty Four percent of people who have stayed at this property say they would stay again.

The Oceanfront Viking Motel is located right on the beach. The rooms here start at about thirty-seven dollars a night and they are also recommended by over sixty percent of the guests who have stayed there.

Ocean Plaza Motel is ocean front at the south end of the city. They average about 38.00 per night at this point. 70% of guests who have stayed recommend it.

The Super 8 on Ocean Boulevard is another good place to stay. You can save money here by booking rooms as low as $41 per night and it has a 70% recommend rating.

Atlantic Palms Resort is right on the beach. This hotel has rooms staring at $42. Our customers who have stayed there before give this a seventy two percent rating.

Days Inn Myrtle Beach runs you about forty three bucks a night and sixty two percent of guests that have been to this place say it is a good place to rest your head.

Sandcastle Oceanfront Resort at the Pavilion is a great property for just $43 per night. Sixty six percent of our previous customers have given this property the go as a good place to stay.

Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort is also a condominium property. We sell this one on our site like a hotel, as many discount brokers do. The price is about $45 per night. A whopping eighty two percent of people who have stayed here loved it.

Rodeway Inn Surfside Beach is $45 a night, but has a horrible rating. Only twenty percent of our guests recommend it, and that is low. So we skip that hotel and recommend the Red Roof Inn Myrtle Beach Hotel – Market Commons which is 2 blocks from the beach. Seventy six percent of guests recommend it and it is the same price as the Rodeway.

Now is the time to book in Myrtle Beach for your spring break trip. I know that hotel rates have been published that they will hit a record low, but simple economics will state that as the time gets closer the room rates are going up.
