Three Paradise Islands In Thailand

February 19th, 2009 No comments

1. Koh Lanta – bring your family and stay longer than you expected..

Koh Lanta is a beautiful and relaxed tropical island. In Sweden Koh Lanta is called the Swedish island, and it is true a lot of Swedes do come here and tend to stay for a long time or come back year after year.

Koh Lanta’s own Swedish school makes it easy for families with young childres to stay for long periods of time, without having their kids getting behind in their studies. No matter your budget, at Koh Lanta everyone can find accomodation to suit their needs, from the simplest “beach shack” living to five star resorts.

2. Koh Phangan – get ready to party

Koh Panghan is the island of party, backpackers and party again. Probably not the best choice if you are not into the partyscene and definetely not if you are planning to go there during the “full moon party” week of the month.

But if you are ready to party all night with a cool mix of travellers from every corner of the earth, then this is a good place. If you do arrive here on one of the three more quiet weeks of each month, you can enjoy beautiful beaches and a more relaxed wibe. Koh Pangan has accomodation from really cheap up to luxury. You get here by boat from Ko Samui or Surat Thani.

3. Koh Jum – experience a true island paradise

Just north of Koh Lanta is Koh Jum, a much, much more relaxed island than Koh Phangan. Here you can experience a true paradise island with fantastic beaches and no nightlife or party.

There are only around ten different places to stay and they are all cheap and simple living style bungalows. The easiest way to get here is by boat from Krabi.

Traveling To Different Beaches

February 12th, 2009 No comments

Deciding where to go when taking a vacation, you should consider your possibilities and your interests. You will also need to consider the amount of time you have and your budget. Because there are so many factors that go into planning a vacation, you may want to visit a travel agent who will be able to work with you in finding a vacation that suits your needs. If you want to visit another country like Thailand or Italy, your travel agent can tell you where to go and when so you don’t end up travelling at the wrong time.

Creating a list of possible places is a good idea so you will be able to conduct research on your own. Many destinations have inexpensive places for you to stay while on vacation and you will be able to find many activities and sights to see. Depending on your interests, there are always museums, small towns to discover, and restaurants where you will be able to try many regional foods. After deciding where to go, you should begin booking airfare, rental car, hotel, and other items so you will be all set when your date of travel arrives.

Reading traveling magazines, books, and tour guides can also give you ideas about where to travel on your next vacation. By collecting articles and keeping them for when you are ready to go on vacation, you will have plenty of ideas, phone numbers, and websites to research. Creating a file is also a way to remind yourself of vacation spots you have been dreaming of for some time like perhaps the beaches in Benidorm. Many people store email and other information on their computer so they can look up these spots even when they aren’t ready to take a vacation.

Talking with those who have recently returned from a trip is a great way to generate ideas as well. If you have been considering a trip to a warmer place, talking with people who have just returned from the Benidorm beaches or from Mexico can give you ideas about your own vacation. You may decide to take a cruise or find a nice island that has beautiful beaches after talking about it with other people.

If traveling to another country, you may want to learn more about the language and the culture so you can truly enjoy it. There are many customs that you should know about so you don’t offend anyone while traveling. If you are planning to travel to different places during your vacation, make sure you pack enough clothing so you will be comfortable.

Some travel agencies sponsor trips to several locations in one country if you want an overview. You will be traveling in a group, which may make you feel safer. Traveling to another country is an exciting way to spend your vacation. You should make sure to learn as much as you can about the country before traveling, so you can have a great time while you’re there.

Thailand – Five Things to Do That You Might Regret Not Doing

February 8th, 2009 No comments

If you’re thinking about a place where you can enjoy this summer to the best of its potential, then the best place to go is Thailand. From beaches to bars, and from shopping to movies, this country is the epitome of enjoyment and relaxation when on holiday.

To help your journey, here is a list of five things you must do when in Thailand. This check list is to guarantee that you not only see the normal tourist places, but also see the other things that this country has to offer to its tourists, in addition to its gorgeous sites.

First, go to the beach. You can go to Phuket where you can either check into a cheaper hotel off the coast, or a slightly more expensive one, depending on your budget. You can also book yourself accommodation on Koh So Mui or Koh Phi Phi, both of which are beautiful islands with warm water and a wide variety of touristy things to do. When on the beach, you can take part in water sports such as jet skiing, water skiing, or para-sailing, or you could also go scuba diving by booking through one of the local tour operators.

Next, make sure you see the nightlife on Patong Beach in Phuket. The main beach on Phuket Island is crowded with people at night, and the endless line of pubs and bars is filled with party goers till early morning.

Go to a Muay Tahi match. This is the land where Muay Thai originated, so once you are here make sure you watch at least one. This is one of the most popular sports in the country. However, if you cannot tolerate violence then you are advised to skip it. Most matches are held on Friday nights, and you can ask a local tour operator to guide you in purchasing tickets for one.

Go to a cinema. While this may sound like a bad idea on a trip abroad, you will learn for yourself that Thailand has the finest cinemas world-wide. They are really modern and equipped with the most recent systems. Thailand offers VIP and First Class cinemas too, where you are given service similar to a five-star hotel. With enormous lounges, free-of-charge snacks and beverages, and only 20 to 40 people in the cinema sharing it with you, you will feel as if you are at a private cinema screening. Most cinemas even give pillows and blankets, and waiters who serve you food.

Bangkok is filled with malls and markets offering you all sorts of products at quite reasonable prices. You can usually bargain items down to half the original price, and even if you end up paying slightly more than a local would, it will still be much cheaper than the goods you may buy from some other place – definitely at home. Moreover, you can go to Sukhumvit or the Night Plaza in Patpong for good prices.

So, these are the five things that you must do when in Thailand in order to experience the best that this country has to offer to its tourists. Of course, you should also do the regular tourist sightseeing, but these five things will truly cause you to fall in love with this country, and draw you back again and again.

Flights to Phuket

Most flights into Phuket originate from Bangkok via several airlines: Thai Airways (also offering flights from the UK to Bangkok), Bangkok Airways, Nok Air, Firefly and Air Asia.Thailand’s largest island, Phuket (roughly pronounced poo-get) is a popular holiday travel destination with beaches, night life and a rich melting pot of culture and religions.

Once you arrive at Phuket’s International Airport you will find that the shuttle bus will be the easiest and cost effective way to get where you would like to go. Local buses also run to all major beaches. Other traveling options include taking advantage of the minibus service or taxi.

Phuket high season is in general from November to May, though the island is hot and humid throughout the year. Summer monsoon season brings sunny, clear mornings and afternoons and rainy evenings. Locals consider May through October the “cool season.”

The island boast something for everyone from parents with children, beach bums and barflies, catering to all tastes, and budgets. Phuket’s 12 beaches are beautiful with white beaches and clear waters. The winding coastal roads offer stunning views and easy access to these fine beaches.

Karon Beach is a long stretch of beach offering a quieter environment than Patong without sacrificing a full range of dining and entertainment, including art and sports.Patong is known as the ideal beach to party and play with hundreds of restaurants, bars and discos centered around Soi Bangla (Bangla Road).

Kata Beach, just a few miles south of Karon Beach is popular with families thanks to its spectacular beach, restaurants and lively, but not wild, night life. Phuket’s other beaches are Mai Khao, Bang Tao, Surin Beach, Laem Singh Beach, Kamala Beach, Kata Nio Beach, Ao Chalong, Rawai Beach and Nai Ham.

While Phuket is sought after by tourists for its beautiful, and world renowned beaches, digging a little deeper beneath the surface one discovers that there is much more to see and do. Phuket is made up of 1 large main island as well as 39 additional smaller islands. And while it is referred to as an island, it is connected to the mainland by bridge. There are many destinations of interest, as well as amazing adventures to be had here, and half the fun is seeking them out.

Thai traditional myths are mixed with humor, fantasy into an increasingly amusing plotline. Simon Cabaret is probably the biggest “transvestite” cabaret in the area and features musical floor show performed by the world famous “ladyboys” of Simon Cabaret.Phuket FantaSea Show features aerial trapeze artists, elephants on stage and pyrotechnics in a Las Vegas style-show.

Enjoy sunrise and sunset views from many of the viewpoints east and west of Phuket. Promthep is a popular but spectacular example offering fabulous views over the ocean all the way to the island of Phi Phi on a clear day. Phuket town, the sleepy and provincial capital, offers funky shops to surprise and delight you. The blend of colonial and Chinese architecture highlight the Old Town’s quantness.

Bring your sense of humor and an open mind with you as you stroll after dark down Patong’s Bangla Road. Patong is known for its wild nightlife. Let’s just say it’s nothing like home. Wat Chalong is one of Phuket’s most important temples and hosts thousands visitors each year. As Phuket’s spiritual center, Wat Chalong has an interesting history.

When To Visit Thailand

Probably the most common question any foreigner real in Thailand will hear from people planning to travel to the Kingdom is “When is the best time to get to Thailand” not an easy doubt to answer without experiencing “why” a person needs to come to Thailand.

There are fundamentally three seasons in Thailand (though of latterly the cold flavor seems to have gone missing), the flavours are, The Hot, The Washed and The Big. Cold being a rather subjective description though, the shots of emergency blankets being handed out in the northwest provinces when it drops to a chilly 10 degrees…that’s 10 degrees Celsius. So what does each flavour offer.

The Hot
March to June : The smartest month is April when even the geckos rest inner and most expats look external at lunch time and determine to not eat rather than dissolve on the walkway to a food stall. The Hot season is beach season, if that’s your thing then this is the time to come to Thailand, assured sun sun sun all day long day after day.

For Trekkers you might find this to be a tad hot to go plodding up hills unless embossed on an elephant, sun throw and drying up are high up on the list of things to mind of. Bangkok grows into a melted vat of pollution as the rolls die and the smog just hangs around dying up the oxygen. Hotels are at their most overpriced during the hot flavor and weekends will see many of the mid extend ones fully booked.

The Wet
July to November : The exchange over from hot to wet is the lightest time to be in Thailand disregarding of what you’re into. It’s Hot, it’s wet and the humidness is ruthless. You’ll be wild to take three showers a day at a minimum…living in a shower for a month might not be a bad plan. If you can imagine living in a sauna for a month then you get the right picture of Thailand at the start of the wet season…unless you’re in Bangkok, then take in a sauna and pipage your car exhaust into the sauna to get the right.
