Escape your daily routine and come to the island of Ibiza. Ibiza is a Balearic Island off the coast of Spain. One of the smaller Balearic Islands, Ibiza is quite different from the other resort destinations in Spain. While resorts, restaurants and other venues welcome families with young children, Ibiza is generally known for being an adults only paradise. Holidays in Ibiza are perfect for professionals who want to get away to a place filled with other like minded adults.

If you’re a sun worshiper, Ibiza is your haven. When you want a grown up vacation, you’ll find Ibiza to be much more satisfying than other islands in the region. Choosing Holiday Villas in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

October 7th, 2009 No comments
by John Spire

Playa Blanca nestles at the southern tip of Lanzarote, and has some of the best weather and beaches on the island. It has become very popular with families from the all over Europe, including the UK, Ireland, Germany and mainland Spain.

There are some very good hotels in Playa Blanca, but the towns popularity has also led to a large increase in the building of holiday villas, as well as residential complexes, over the past 10 years. Many holidaymakers prefer the freedom and facilities of self catering in these villas, so we thought this was a good time to provide a brief review of the various areas of Playa Blanca to help you choose where to stay for your next holiday there.

Playa Blanca consists of three main areas, as you travel from the North of the resort to the South:

Marina Rubicon, which also acts as the gateway to the National Park of Papagayo

Playa Blanca Central: villas in this area give easy access on foot to three excellent beaches, plus the whole town with its wide range of shops, bars and restaurants

Montana Roja: situated to the south of Playa Blanca, and comprising many of the newest and most luxurious villa developments.

Marina Rubicon area: the Marina is only been built for 5 years, but has quickly become well established thanks to occupation by a good choice of high quality designer shops and restaurants. Marina Rubicon is really upmarket with a capital U. You can choose holiday villas in Marina Rubicon and the areas close by that range from from duplexes to 3 or 4 bedroom luxury villas with their own pool. There are also some great apartments very close to the Marina, many with balconies and a view of the boats and the sea beyond the Marina.

Playa Blanca (Central): choose from town centre apartments, some of which enjoy beautiful views of the sea and neighbouring islands, or from some excellent villa developments within easy walking distance, most of which have full tourist licenses. Some of the better known names include Las Casitas, Las Brisas, Casas del Sol, and Puerto Chico. Many of these were built in the early days of Playa Blancas development as a resort, around the mid 1980s. The villas tend to be slightly smaller and semi detached, and share a communal pool. Nevertheless, they are very well managed and equipped, and very popular, since the town, beaches, port and many bars and restaurants are all within easy walking distance.

Montana Roja: like the Marina Rubicon area, much of Montana Rojas development has happened since 2000, spreading around the base of the mountain, on the two easternmost ocean view sides of it. A plan is also in place for a golf course on the currently undeveloped sides of Montana Roja in the future. There are many holiday villa developments around Montana Roja; some of the most popular are Parque del Rey, Vista Lobos, Carlos Park, Atlantic Gardens, together with the villas in Faro Park that sub divide further under the names of Finisterre, La Goleta, Carabela and Los Alisios.

The building of all of these villas in Playa Blanca, and around it, have certainly put pressure on the facilities offered in the town, but the Ayuntamiento de Yaiza (the local authority responsible for Playa Blanca) has worked very hard in recent years to improve and expand the facilities. As a result of this, holidays in Playa Blanca have remained very popular despite the recession.

There’s no doubt that such holidays can be expensive and especially so if you’re taking the whole family. Fortunately, there are a few things that you can do to try and reduce costs. Many of them are about flexibility and taking a new approach to travel bookings.

Remember that the Mediterranean Sea is surrounded by many differing countries and possible destinations. A holiday in one part of the region could be really different to taking a trip to another destination that’s not too far away. It’s because of these differences that you’ll find that prices can vary considerably. If the first destination that you look at seems too expensive then don’t be put off. There will undoubtedly be cheaper options available.

Do you generally book your holidays by nipping in to see a traditional travel agent? Many people still think of this as being the only option, but the reality is that cheaper deals can often be found by looking online. You’ll be able to compare prices more easily and spot the very best deals.

When making your booking, try to be flexible. You need to consider that most people like to travel during the same few months of summer. By avoiding traveling at these busiest times, you can keep costs down. That doesn’t mean to say that you have to fly in the winter months, but it does mean that it makes good sense to think about the days and times of day when you are intending to travel.

Spain : The Royal Palace In Madrid

August 25th, 2009 No comments
by Michael Richards

Madrid is known for the Palacio Real, which means Royal Palace, not only because of the monuments, sculptures, and gardens that encompass it but also for its elegant design. The Palacio Real, took nearly a quarter century to build and was once the seat of power in the 1700′s, where the kings and queens of Spain ruled from. The Palacio Real was filled with Spanish royalty until the early 1930′s.

Even though less than 10% of the palace is open to the public, there is still far more than you could see in a single day. Palacio Real is composed of almost 3000 rooms, over 40 staircases and 240 balconies, as well as extravagant decorations, furniture and other objects that line every space.

You can see the Throne Room, which once operated as the war room for the world’s primary superpower, and also the Royal Armory, which features a large quantity of armor and weaponry in addition to implements of torture left over from the Spanish Inquisition.

You’ll look at first editions of important Spanish literature in the Royal Library, learn about past medical procedures in the Royal Pharmacy, and see where famous Europeans dined in the Banquet Hall.

Outside of Palacio Real, you can walk through the Royal Gardens (which are the most famous in Madrid), enjoy the sight of the Manzanares River, and watch the changing of the guards.

The greatest way to enjoy the exhibits and become versed in the history of the palace is by taking a guided, two-hour tour. These $30 tours sell out quickly, mostly during the summer, and it is best if they are reserved ahead of time. Although photography is not allowed, you can purchase photo books and postcards to keep the memories of Palacio Real with you forever.
