You know the electric car movement has blown up when Porsche jumps on the bandwagon. That isn?t to say that Porsche doesn?t focus on progress, but the luxury and sports car markets are quite a bit pickier than others. Usually, a major brand like Porsche waits to see how consumers will react to new technology before they launch their own version. But Philadelphia used Porsche dealers are on the offensive this time around. While some major brands haven?t even announced plans for their first electric vehicle, Porsche is already talking about launching an electric version of its classic Boxter model. For now, the company plans to send a test-fleet out to hit the streets and see how the car performs under normal conditions. Perhaps the most intriguing part of Porsche equipping its classic Boxter with an electric engine is that the car has traditionally featured loud, noisy, powerful engines. Taste of Philly Cookbook

You probably don’t know this, but we at Daily Deal Time are multi-talented. We multi-task incessantly, scrounging up unbeatable deals, drinking Chai tea and cleaning up after ourselves in the employee lunchroom (the boss is always harping, “Your momma don’t work here!”), all at the same time.

One of our editors even fancies himself an amateur gourmet cook. Not sure exactly what an “amateur gourmet” is, but whatever. The grilled basil-chicken alfredo pizza with avocado, capers and roasted red peppers he brought in last week was a big hit.

And then it occurred to me (bright ideas just keep poppin’ into my head, you know): I’d like to see a cookbook of local specialties. So…

I call on you… Friends, Phillians, Countrymen: Should I approach the boss and ask him to have Daily Deal Time create a uniquely Best of Philly cookbook for posterity, and to place a copy of that cookbook in the Daily Deal Time time capsule on Delsea Drive in Westville, to be opened by aliens in the year 2111?

Every once in a while, you run across an idea Whose Time Has Come. (I must say upfront, however, that both “Taste of Philly” and “Best of Philly” seem cliche to me. I prefer “Philly Taste Cookbook.” Think we need a focus group; at the very least, a casual poll. It worked for the DDT t-shirt design, after all.)

And hey, there’s nothing wrong with “dinner and a show,” as long as that “show” is live theater in the hippest corner of town. Can’t talk in the theatre? You’ll have plenty to talk about when it’s over. Keep a decent Italian red (watch for the ½-price wine deals!) and a corkscrew in your car at all times, in case a date moves to a bottle of wine somewhere where there’s no one but you two.

One of the beauties of Daily Deal Time’s daily deals is the “intrigue factor.” Anybody can take her to a movie.
