How to Save Money on Your Honeymoon

How to Save Money on Your Honeymoon

Many couples these days are discouraged when they think about the costs of a honeymoon.  There is only so much money in their savings, if they have any at all, and shouldn’t that money really be spent on a down-payment for a house?  Are honeymoons excusable expenses at all anymore?

You only get one chance to have a honeymoon.  If you put it off, life will swell up and engulf your time and money, and the chance to celebrate your new life together will have passed.  Instead of writing the honeymoon off altogether because of cost worries, why not find creative ways to afford one?  A magical honeymoon can be had on any budget.  Here are some tips to save money on your honeymoon:

1.  Make a budget

The first step toward being able to afford a vacation is finding out what you have saved and what you can spend.  Try to make the budget several months in advance so that you have time to put money into savings for the honeymoon.  Decide what kind of honeymoon you want to have, and search the internet to see what honeymoons of that type cost.  Narrow the list down and then try calling the airlines, hotels, and restaurants you will be frequenting.  Often they will offer special honeymoon packages or will be willing to give a discount just because you are newlyweds.

2. Use a honeymoon registry

A honeymoon registry operates much like a gift registry.  Guests can find the link to your honeymoon registry in their bridal shower invitation or on your wedding blog or website, and they can gift you money toward your honeymoon.  Through companies that specialize in honeymoon regisitries, like HoneyLuna and Honeyfund, guests can even purchase specific amenities for you to enjoy on your honeymoon, such as a snorkeling trip or a couple’s massage.  Money from the honeymoon registry can even go toward airfare and lodging.

3.  Borrow a space or use what you have

Ask if someone will give you the use of their lake house, beach bungalow, or timeshare for your wedding gift.  Borrowing a space, especially if it has a kitchen and is close to town and tourist attractions, will cut down on costs immensely.  Make sure that any space you choose includes a kitchen and you will save hundreds of dollars on food.

You could also make your honeymoon a “staycation” by honeymooning in your hometown or somewhere very close by.  I’m willing to bet you’ve never been to the tourist attractions in your own city.  Rent a room at a hotel with room service and movies on demand and go see the museums, architectural marvels, and tourist traps your city has to offer.  You’ll be able to visit these places later with your children or other family members and revisit your honeymoon memories again and again.

4.  Go in the off-season

Some of the best honeymoons can be had in the off-season.  Go to a beach or tourist destination when no one else is there and you’ll get VIP treatment on a coach budget.  Airfare, tickets, and lodging are all cheaper in the off-season.

5.  Use an all-inclusive package

Cruises and package deals, while they may seem expensive upfront, can end up saving you money because the price you pay includes everything, often including gratuity, food, and even alcohol.  The off-season applies to cruises and packages, as well.  You may be able to find wicked deals on packages in the off-season, or through auction and discount sites on the internet.

Save Money on Airport Parking

Article by Alex Postance

Without proper planning, you will pay through the roof for airport parking, however if you read over and implement some of these ‘Top Money Saving Tips’, you could in fact save around 60% when it comes to your airport parking needs.

Top Tip #1 – Be Smart and Pre-Book

If you turn up on the day and expect to get cheap parking, you will be in for a big, costly surprise. It is often the case that a premium is charged for those that haven’t pre-booked, and this amount can be 60% more than if you had pre-booked over the Internet. You can still use the Internet to pre-book, even if you need the parking spot today. It would certainly be crazy not to, otherwise you will need to pay the set gate price when you arrive. Airport-parking.co.uk is easy to navigate when you are pre-booking, so make sure you hop online and save yourself some money for more important parts of your travel.

Top Tip #2 – Getting in Early

It certainly pays to get in early, because when you need to find cheaper Manchester airport parking, it is possible to get an advance purchase price. This price can be withdrawn at any time, and it usually will be, as your travel date looms nearer. The closer you are to the date of your travel, the higher the parking rate, it is as simple as that!

Top Tip #3 – What’s Cheaper – Parking at the Airport or a Taxi?

Many people think it is more convenient and cheaper to catch a taxi to the airport on their departure date. If you happen to live 5 minutes from the airport, then this may be the case, however most people live further away than that. Even if you live 20 minutes away, think of the traffic around the airport and think about that taxi meter ticking away while you are sitting in it. With Manchester airport parking and through using the services provided by Airport-Parking.co.uk, you will never think about taking a taxi again.

Top Tip #4 – The 5-Minute Walk

You can save a lot of money, and even time, when you choose airport parking Manchester, because a great service is offered and the area is often less congested than the parking within Manchester airport. Is a 5-minute walk, or bus transfer, worth saving some cash? Definitely!

Heathrow Airport Parking Explained – Top Advice On How to Save Time and Money From a Seasoned Traveller

London Heathrow is the World’s busiest airport, with around 90 different airlines who between them, offer a choice of over 200 domestic, European and international destinations. Over 67 Million passengers travel through the Airport each year, so it’s hardly surprising that finding the right Heathrow parking to suit your needs can be such a nightmare time consuming and expensive. However, the key to finding the right parking for your needs, at the right price, is now divulged for your reading pleasure…

There are various Heathrow parking options available to passengers travelling through the Airport depending on budget, length of stay and level of service required. Determining which Heathrow parking option will best suit your needs is the first step:

* Standard Heathrow Parking

Heathrow short term parking is perfect for collecting or dropping off passengers, or for short trips. Any cars left unattended in the set down or pick up areas, will be towed away by the police and a release fee will be incurred. Therefore, if you need to leave your car unattended, motorists must park in the Heathrow short stay car parks available at each Terminal.

* Business Heathrow Parking

For travellers that need parking for up to three or four days and require greater speed and convenience, the business car parks are located closer to the terminals than the other Heathrow long term parking options, and offer a more frequent courtesy coach transfer.

* Heathrow Long Term Parking

For passengers travelling away for more than a few days, Heathrow long term parking is recommended. This is where the minefield begins. There are a huge number of different options available for Heathrow parking, and many companies competing for your business. Keep reading for tips on how to make your Heathrow parking decision and get the best price.

* Heathrow BAA Parking Options

Long term Heathrow BAA parking is situated in the area surrounding Heathrow Airport and offers secure parking and a courtesy bus transfer that runs every 10 minutes. However, passengers using this option must leave plenty of time as the transfer to the airport takes approximately 20 minutes.

* Meet and Greet Heathrow Airport Parking

If you find bus transfers and off-site Heathrow parking a hassle, meet and greet Heathrow Airport Parking offers customers a convenient valet service. Amongst many benefits, travellers can check-in within minutes of arriving at the airport and drive away minutes after clearing customs.

* Heathrow Park & Stay

For passengers that would like to relax before they travel or that have an early flight, park and stay is available at the Hilton Hotel, Terminal 4. The package includes one night in the Hilton hotel and nine days parking.

Now we’ve looked at all the options, ‘how do I make sure I get the best quote to save me money?’, I hear you ask…

One way of saving money is by going through travel bookings, maybe for flight or hotel bookings. Here are some tips on how to save money on travel bookings:

1. For flight bookings, go through the many air travel companies and do your research, see if they offer promos and discounts especially on early bookings. This way you could plan ahead your trip and make your travel booking early on to save money.

2. Make sure that your baggage or meals come free in your travel ticket and that there are no other hidden fees that you do not know about.

If you do want to go through travel agencies make sure that they offer rates are within reason. You would know it since you will do some research on your own as well.

4. Book through travel agencies that are offering reasonable rates and with many options to choose from. Especially choose the ones that offer the whole package, flight, hotel and car hires to make your travel a lot more pleasant and enjoyable. This will also ensure you to save on more money.

There are some travel agents offering lowest rate but if you read the fine lines, there are so many hidden charges along the way.
