For a lot of us, luxury safaris seem like the kind of exotic holiday we will never be able to experience. Luxury Tanzania safaris, in particular, seem extremely out of reach. Heck, for most of us, we probably do not even think of the word “luxury” when we are thinking about safaris at all. However, it might be time to reconsider on all of those counts.

Going on a safari in Africa is truly a once in a life time opportunity. It is one of those holidays about which many of us can only dream because we think it is so far out of our reach or our budget. However, going on a luxury safari is becoming a reality for a lot of people these days. Contrary to what you might be thinking about safaris in general, it is entirely possible to enjoy a luxury one. You do not have to rough it; you will not be left in the wilds of Africa with just a tent to protect you.

While the thought of luxury is appealing, it is not the only worthwhile thing you can experience. A lot of people go on safari, luxurious or otherwise, because of the sights. The landscape, the animals, the local customs: you will be able to experience all of these things on a safari. The lush scenery and the amazing animals in their real habitats draw an increasing amount of people.

Today, there are a lot of traveling companies which specialize in safaris. They especially know how to tailor the safaris to clients who prefer a little luxury. However, you will not have to sacrifice the experience at all. Thanks to local experts and guides, you will get a truly unique experience.

The whole point behind their operation is to leave you with amazing memories. They want to create a truly memorable holiday for you, not just one which is luxurious. That is why there are always local guides ready to help you to enjoy the landscape and the experiences as a native.

There are a variety of ways in which you can take and enjoy your safari. For example, some safaris are conducted entirely on horseback. This allows you a truly authentic experience. All the nuances you would miss in a vehicle will be available to you. The same can be said for a relaxing, interesting trip down the river in a safari boat.

If you are not an expert at riding a horse, do not worry. You will have an abundance of guides there to help you and to keep you completely safe. You just need to enjoy what you see. When you take your safari on horseback, from an amazing vantage point.

Now that you have the opportunity to reconsider your opinions on a luxury safari, what are you waiting for? This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. You will get to see things that many people only dream of seeing.

February 13th, 2009 No comments

Dubai is a city of that has a lot to offer. A concrete jungle that has not just everything, but also a place which does not allow you to leave with a feeling that you didn’t have fun and enjoyed to the last extent. Dubai is in fact one of seven emirates that, collectively, make up the United Arab Emirates. It is the most fashionable of all seven, and has the most varied attractions to offer to any visitor.

Your senses will be overloaded with all that’s happening around when you are in Dubai. The city is filled with restaurants, beaches, malls, attractions, hotels, and people of diversified cultures. Head over to the Dubai Museum, which has loads of information and is an extension built under the fort if you want information about the history. Jumeirah Mosque is a beautiful mosque and is one of the mosques that are open to non-Muslims for tours. Shindagha District has a number of museums and also is the location of the home of the former ruler, Sheikh Rashid Al-Maktoum.

You should also pay a visit to the Burj Al-Arab hotel, which is a single seven star hotel in the world and is built in the form of a ship’s sail. A reservation is necessary to enter the hotel, and even though it is very expensive it is well worth the money. The Burj Dubai is the world’s tallest construction and even though it is still under construction, it is worth looking at. The Palm Islands and the World Islands are the world’s largest artificial islands, and yet again are worth taking a look at just to know how the city feels about limits.

While in Dubai, you can take an aerial tour of Dubai with a Seaplane tour. There are also endless water sport opportunities on the beaches, which are spectacular. Desert Safaris are also a must do, with SUVs taking you over dunes like a roller coaster. This is followed by a view of the sunset and a traditional meal in the desert.

You can also go for skiing in Dubai in its well known skiing centre in the Mall of the Emirates. Wild Wadi is a water park with various kinds of rides and sports available. You can also sail around the Dubai Creek, the original port around which the city developed.

Since Dubai is such a modern city with a large diversity in population, there is not a lot of local food that can be recommended as most tourists will generally be able to find their favourite fast food chain everywhere. However, it is recommended that you try a Shawarma, which is meat that is cooked on a skewer and then placed in pita bread with vegetables and dressing. It is very cheap, and available at most corner cafes, especially in the old city. You might also want to try Hummus, which is a dip made from chickpeas and is great when eaten with Pita bread. Falafel is also commonly found everywhere.

Even though Dubai is more liberal as compared to the other emirates, there are still laws regarding alcohol. Only licensed establishments are allowed to sell it, and are not sold during religious holidays. Drinking alcohol in public places is against the law.

When in Dubai make sure you visit not only the modern shopping malls and beautiful beaches, but also take in a little bit of the culture by visiting old Dubai and eating the local fare.

Thailand – Five Things to Do That You Might Regret Not Doing

February 8th, 2009 No comments

If you’re thinking about a place where you can enjoy this summer to the best of its potential, then the best place to go is Thailand. From beaches to bars, and from shopping to movies, this country is the epitome of enjoyment and relaxation when on holiday.

To help your journey, here is a list of five things you must do when in Thailand. This check list is to guarantee that you not only see the normal tourist places, but also see the other things that this country has to offer to its tourists, in addition to its gorgeous sites.

First, go to the beach. You can go to Phuket where you can either check into a cheaper hotel off the coast, or a slightly more expensive one, depending on your budget. You can also book yourself accommodation on Koh So Mui or Koh Phi Phi, both of which are beautiful islands with warm water and a wide variety of touristy things to do. When on the beach, you can take part in water sports such as jet skiing, water skiing, or para-sailing, or you could also go scuba diving by booking through one of the local tour operators.

Next, make sure you see the nightlife on Patong Beach in Phuket. The main beach on Phuket Island is crowded with people at night, and the endless line of pubs and bars is filled with party goers till early morning.

Go to a Muay Tahi match. This is the land where Muay Thai originated, so once you are here make sure you watch at least one. This is one of the most popular sports in the country. However, if you cannot tolerate violence then you are advised to skip it. Most matches are held on Friday nights, and you can ask a local tour operator to guide you in purchasing tickets for one.

Go to a cinema. While this may sound like a bad idea on a trip abroad, you will learn for yourself that Thailand has the finest cinemas world-wide. They are really modern and equipped with the most recent systems. Thailand offers VIP and First Class cinemas too, where you are given service similar to a five-star hotel. With enormous lounges, free-of-charge snacks and beverages, and only 20 to 40 people in the cinema sharing it with you, you will feel as if you are at a private cinema screening. Most cinemas even give pillows and blankets, and waiters who serve you food.

Bangkok is filled with malls and markets offering you all sorts of products at quite reasonable prices. You can usually bargain items down to half the original price, and even if you end up paying slightly more than a local would, it will still be much cheaper than the goods you may buy from some other place – definitely at home. Moreover, you can go to Sukhumvit or the Night Plaza in Patpong for good prices.

So, these are the five things that you must do when in Thailand in order to experience the best that this country has to offer to its tourists. Of course, you should also do the regular tourist sightseeing, but these five things will truly cause you to fall in love with this country, and draw you back again and again.
