The important places to visit in Uttkarkhand are: Almora, Mussoorie, Nainital, Chamba, Kanatal, Kausani, Auli and Vasuki Tal. Uttarkhand was carved out from the State of Uttar Pradesh and Dehradun is its capital. It lies at an altitude between 1600 m to 7817 m, above MSL. Dehradun is about 235 km from Delhi, and can be reached by road, rail and by air. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant, about 25 km away from the city. The best time to visit Dehradun is from April to August.

Surrounded by the majestic Himalayas, Shivaliks and sacred rivers Ganga and Yamuna, Dehradun is the gateway to fascinating locations like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. The Doon School is one of the oldest land marks of the city.

Uttarkhand is blessed with innumerable lakes, sacred rivers, snow clad mountains, towering peaks, beautiful valleys and splendid flora and fauna. It has excellent facilities for skiing, river rafting, trekking and mountaineering. All these make it a tourist’s paradise.

Chamba (not Chamba of Himachal) is a small hill station, about 50 km from Mussoorie. Located at an altitude of 1600 m above MSL is an un-spoilt and very picturesque location. The beauty is more enhanced by pine tress, deodar and beautiful surroundings. It is an ideal location for relaxing and rejuvenating.

Kanatal is an important tourist center on the Champa – Mussoorie highway. It is located at an altitude of 8500 feet about MSL. Kanatal can be visited during summer as well as winter. However, December to February, people throng this place to enjoy the winter. The climate is very pleasant both in winter and summer as well.

Important place to visit are the Surkanda Devi temple, Tehri Dam and hill stations Dhanaulti and Mussorie. Shivpuri, the river rafter’s paradise is just 75 km from Kanatal.

Kausani is a very beautiful hill station and is known as the Switzwerland of India. It is located in the Kumaon region of Uttarkhand at an altitude of 1890 m above MSL. You can see the peaks Trishul and Nanda Devi very clearly from here.

You can reach Kausani by air, rod and rail. The nearest airport is at Pantnagar, about 180 km from the town. The nearest railway station is Kathgodam about 142 km away from the town. It is well connected by road with other hill stations viz. Almora, Ranikhet, Pithoragarh, Gwaldam and Nainital.

The famous Baijnath temple, which was built more than thousand years ago, located on the banks of river Gomti is another attraction.

Another important place to visit is Chaukori about 75 km from Kausani. You can have very close view of the snow clad peaks from here. In case you wish to over stay for the night, there is a tourist bungalow there.

If you are an ardent fan of trekking, Sudardoonga and Kafni glaciers, located in the Pindari glacier are the two ideal locations to visit. However, you need the help of experienced guides. The route is through Umla Jatoli village via Dhakudi, a camping point 35 km away. To reach Kafini, located at an altitude of 3800 m above MSL, you have to trek about 20 km from Dwali camp.

Larnaca Vacation In Cheap

August 10th, 2010 No comments

Legend has it that the first settlement in the area that became Larnaca (then known as Kition) was founded by Noah’s great-grandson Kittim. At one time Kition was the principal colony in Cyprus, of the ancient civilisation of Phoenicia until becoming part of the Greek Hellenistic world.

The ancient site is at the north end of modern day Larnaca, with the earliest remains believed to go back to the Mycenean age (circa 1400-1100 BC). It was during this period that The Kition City Kingdom was established by the Greeks, and it enjoyed the dual position of being both a rich port and a major centre of the copper trade. It is also alluded to, in a list of allies of King Assurbanipal of Assyria, that Kition was still a recent settlement in the 7th century BC. The discovery of an official monument of King Sargon II also suggests that Kition was the administrative centre during this time.

During the Ionian Greek revolts of the 4th century BC, Kition led the side that was loyal to Persia and was besieged by an Athenian force in 449 BC. Relics from this siege can still be seen at Larnaca’s ancient site.

The Byzantine period of Larnaca was of great importance. This period left many great monuments, including the 9th century AD Basilica of Saint Lazarus – a stunning reminder of Larnaca’s rich history. The town regained its former standing during the time it was under Ottoman rule, when it became the diplomatic and commercial centre of Cyprus, and it was into Larnaca that the British landed in 1878; thus beginning their rule of the island – a rule that lasted until 1960.

The more recent development of the city follows the fast development of the entire country. Larnaca’s population in 1973 was just 22,000 but after the Turkish invasion of 1974 when 200,000 people were forcibly displaced by the Turkish army, Larnaca welcomed over 40,000 refugees, tripling its population practically overnight, adding another chapter to its history and helping to reinforce its growing reputation as a prime tourist destination, with car hire in Larnaca [http://www.easycar.com/car-hire/location/Larnaca.aspx] helping visitors discover the ancient site and monuments for themselves.

Being in existence from the early dawn of history, Larnaca has had its fair share of visitors over the years with the Greeks, the Persians, the Egyptians, the Romans, the Venetians, the Turks and the British having occupied the land at one point. The visitors continue to come to the city to this day, with three million tourists entering Cyprus annually from Larnaca’s airport, Port and the Marina, eager to take a step back into ancient times.

Nice Motel In Paris

July 30th, 2010 No comments

Situated at the heart of the city of lights Hotel Mayet Paris is a great place to be for those who are planning to stay for a long time and explore this romantic city. It is a cute budget hotel with fully furnished interiors, friendly staff and small but convenient bedrooms. Though the shower room is a bit small it is quite manageable for those who are looking forward to staying there for quite some time.

We stayed at the Mayet Hotel during our trip to Disneyland Paris. It was a really comfy accommodation. The metro station is placed at a very close distance to the hotel, and therefore it was easy for us to commute to Disneyland Paris.

Although the rooms of the small are “smaller”, yet the excellent service and the quality of care for the customer made it seem large enough. During an earlier annual visit of mine to Paris, I was on the lookout of a hotel which was smooth on my limited budget. That was when Mayet hotel came as a choice, and after experiencing the service and the environment, I knew I had hit the right spot.

For a lone traveler who does not wish to waste too much money on a big hotel and prefers a quiet and peaceful stay, Hotel Mayet Paris is the right kind of place to be in. The best thing about Hotel Mayet is that the rooms are clean and always well kept.

Another thing to be kept in mind is that they do offer online facilities. Usually booking is done online and they honor the online offers and discounts when applicable.

We had a hectic day at Disneyland with its theme parks, dining and entertainment. We were very exhausted by the time we reached Hotel Mayet Paris. The cozy atmosphere was just like home and the excellent service by the waiters is to be commended.

The hotel had a very soothing aura to it. The rooms were neat and the management remarkable. Even the exquisitely tiled bathroom added to the magic the hotel unleashed. And the beds of Hotel Mayet Paris are amazing! I guess after a very long time, I slept like a baby, relaxed, relieved and at comfort.

Tourist Attractions In France

July 17th, 2010 No comments

Visiting France is always a challenge, because there are so many things you can visit you don’t even know where to start, but Paris is always a good begging, as it offers attractions like The Eiffel Tower and Napoleon’s Grave. The Eiffel tower has been opened in 1899 at the universal exposition and it quickly became a symbol of the French capital.

In France you can find attraction all over the place, not only in its Capital city. Traditional country regions offer different kinds of hotel accommodations, witch depend on specific, tradition and location. When deciding to go see the non-modern regions of France, you can book in a hotel that will offer comfortable rooms at low prices and will allow you to taste traditional French cooking. The whole world knows that culinary refinement originates in France. It is believed that the traditional French dishes are unforgettable, so take into consideration booking into a motel outside the city if you want to experience this unforgettable taste.

Regions that often get visited by tourists have developed hotel accommodations that offer special experiences. The French Cote D’Azur shows a great number of tourist locations. Famous festivals are held on the Cote D’Azur, and if you decided to find a hotel here, you may as well go to one. Such a resort is the one where an annual film festival is held, called Cannes, I’m sure you’ve heard of it. Negresco hotel in Nice is a place where special treatments can be experienced, but it is very expensive. For music fans there are big news: the famous jazz festival held in July is a perfect reason to booking into a hotel near it.

Hotel accommodations in Paris are strategically placed near palaces, squares, picturesque regions with modern architecture, museums like The Luvre witch is one of the richest and wealthiest museums in the world, or tent sites perfect for a Black Diamond tent.

Visiting a famous museum or cathedral has it’d downside: you have to stay in a big city where hotels are more expensive. If you want to have a nice vacation but at low costs, then going on a tour of the country side is the best choice. For nature lovers, tent renting is available. There’s an additional alternative to country side if you want an inexpensive vacation: less famous cities.

May 24th, 2010 No comments

Romance is in the air at Chateau on the Mountain. Boasting mountain views and surrounded by acres of peaceful countryside, this North Carolina bed and breakfast is the perfect spot to bring the one you love.

Each of the guest rooms has been designed with a different theme in mind. For example, the posh Biltmore Suite evokes the ambiance and glamour of the nearby Biltmore Estate. It includes a king canopy bed, fireplace and a balcony with mountain views.

The other five rooms and suites are equally impressive, all offering luxurious linens, spa tubs and a myriad of amenities. Some rooms offer a fireplace or a private garden.

In addition to the romantic rooms, guests are treated to a full breakfast each morning as well as an evening turndown service. Beverages are always available, and in the evenings there is an innkeeper-hosted reception. Other amenities include wireless internet, clock radios, hair dryers and much more.

If you feel the need to add even more romance to your visit, consider one of the innkeepers’ many romantic add-on packages. You can opt for a simple touch such as chocolate-dipped strawberries and wine to be placed in your room or consider the Touch of Romance package, which includes champagne, flowers, chocolate, strawberries and other snacks.

If the sky is the limit, consider the Vive La Romance package. This two-day package includes lodging in one of the inn’s suites, breakfast in bed and a couples’ massage. You can add on a variety of other spa treatments and even arrange for a private, gourmet dinner in your room.

Although secluded, this Fletcher bed and breakfast is within easy driving distance of the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore Estate and all the fun of Asheville. Hiking, biking and skiing all are nearby, as well.
