How to organise the perfect honeymoon

Your honeymoon. Probably the most expensive holiday you will ever take. Probably the best two weeks of your life and the chance to relax after the stress of organising your wedding as Mr and Mrs. Everyone wants a dream honeymoon and everyone can have a dream honeymoon no matter what their budget. All it takes is some careful planning.

Here are my top ten tips on organising the perfect honeymoon.

What is your honeymoon style?
The first thing you should do is talk to your partner about the type of honeymoon you would both enjoy. Do you crave a week on an idyllic white sand beach or would you prefer an energy-packed sight-seeing trip? If you can’t reach an agreement, a twin-centre honeymoon is perfect for you!

Set a budget
Your honeymoon will most likely be the most expensive holiday you take so it’s worth setting a budget or costs can easily spiral out of control. Work out how much you can afford and set a realistic budget, but don’t be too hard on yourself, you want a honeymoon you’ll never forget and you may have the opportunity to do things you may never get the chance to do again.

Pick a destination
Once you’ve identified your honeymoon style and you know what you can afford, now you need to pick where you want to go. Pick a destination that is new to you and keep important things in mind such as weather during your month of travel, high and low seasons and hot spots for couples. Popular honeymoon destinations include the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean but keep an open mind and don’t limit yourself to these traditional spots. Some European destinations are just as beautiful and can cost a fraction of the price.

Decide on accommodation
Five star hotel or backpackers lodge? Safari camp or 3 star city centre hotel? Depending on your honeymoon style, you’ll need to think about what type of accommodation you want. Think about how much time you will be spending at the hotel. If you’ll be spending most of your time there then why not splash out on a luxury 5 star resort? If you know you’ll be doing sightseeing for most of the day, then a more modest hotel would suit you fine.

Start researching
Once you’ve decided as a couple what your perfect honeymoon involves, start researching and making hotel and flight enquiries as soon as possible. You’ll find endless websites offering honeymoons so make sure you check out a good variety and shop around for the best deal. There are some great offers online these days.

Book it!
Once you’ve found your perfect honeymoon at a price you can afford, don’t leave booking it until the last minute especially if you are getting married at a popular time of year (summer months, Christmas and New Year). Schedule your departure for a couple of days after the wedding instead of the day after. If you must travel the day after, try to choose an afternoon or evening flight. Once it’s booked, it’s out of the way and one less thing on your wedding to-do list!

Set up a honeymoon registry
These days, many couples swap the traditional wedding gift list for honeymoon registry. Perfect for couples who already live together and have toasters, blenders and bed sheets coming out of their ears, honeymoon registry invites your wedding guests to contribute towards the cost of your honeymoon. There are hundreds of websites that offer this service, so shop around and find the best one for you.

Check your passport and visas
Ladies, if you are taking your new husband’s name, make sure that all travel documents and bookings are made in the same name. Differences could end up with you being refused travel. If you are changing your passport before your honeymoon, make sure you leave plenty of time as sometimes delays can happen. You should also check if you need a visa to travel to your destination.

Pack in advance
You’ll want to look good on your honeymoon so plan your wardrobe and pack in advance. The last thing you’ll want to do after your wedding is pack a suitcase. Don’t forget to pack some sexy underwear and if you’re going on a beach holiday, a gorgeous bikini, sun hat and beach cover up. Maxi dresses make great beach to bar outfits. If you’re going on a city honeymoon, pack some good walking shoes, some comfortable outfits and a couple of evening dresses.

Relax and make the most of it!
Hopefully you’ll only be taking one honeymoon so make the most of it! Take some time out to really relax and spend some quality time with your new husband or wife. Take the opportunity to try new things and visit new places. Make sure you take lots of photos and put them in an album when you get home. You’ll be able to show your grand children how much fun you had, and just how good you used to look in a bikini!

How to plan a successful honeymoon

How to plan a successful honeymoon

Article by Jack Jones

Planning your honeymoon can be a very confusing and stressful time; very often the planning of the honeymoon takes place well into the wedding planning process, which can be a very stressful and challenging affair. It is therefore important to try and take away some of the stress and worry from planning your big day and one of the best ways to do this is by planning your honeymoon package in advance.

Planning a honeymoon can for some couples be a complete walk in the park and for others it can be another strain adding to the wedding planning. The location of the honeymoon can sometimes easily be resolved if you’re having your honeymoon abroad, often couples opt for this option in order to get away from the stress of the guest list and opt for a more private and intimate wedding celebration. On the other hand if you’re up to the eye balls in planning your wedding and have no idea where you would like to go on honeymoon, it can easily add more tension.

To help relieve stress levels and to help keep the wedding on track, I have come up with some of the best honeymoon packages around to help cater for every bride and newlywed to be.

For a dynamic honeymoon why not try a Sydney, rock and reef honeymoon. You will spend the first four days in Sydney staying in a luxury four star hotel and is only a short walk from the iconic Sydney opera house and Harbour Bridge. Following this you will then spend around two days at Ayres Rock, going from the cosmopolitan city of Sydney to the Australian outback, enabling you to experience one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Having visited Ayres Rock and the surrounding area you will then take a trip to Palm Cove, going from one iconic Australian location to another. It is at Palm Cove – the gateway to another one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Great Barrier Reef.

Staying in the South Pacific, a honeymoon to Fiji with a trip to Hong Kong may be more what you’re looking for. This wonderful honeymoon package combines a week soaking up the island lifestyle in Fiji which is then accompanied by a three night stay enjoying the sights and sounds of the historical city of Hong Kong, adding a completely different dynamic to your honeymoon.

If a honeymoon to Fiji and Hong Kong is not for you then perhaps a honeymoon to Thailand will be more for you. Discover the beauty of ancient Thailand, explore the city of angles – Bangkok is certainly one of Asia’s greatest cities. A honeymoon to Thailand is an all together different honeymoon to that of a honeymoon to Australia or Fiji. On a honeymoon to Thailand you will be fully immersed into the Asian culture and history, you will be inspired by the great temples, landscape and the people of Thailand.

I hope the honeymoon packages I have chosen have helped you become one step closer to resolving your honeymoon conundrum, watch this space for more honeymoon packages and useful honeymoon tips.

Tips to help find the best honeymoon package

Tips to help find the best honeymoon package

Article by Jack Jones

There are literally thousands upon thousands of honeymoon packages to choose from, and it can be rather a challenge to find the perfect balance between the honeymoon location and the activities you wish to do, it is therefore imperative to find a location which caters for both parties needs. The wedding may be all about the bride but the honeymoon is when you truly begin to share your life with one another, and by sharing that means compromising on what both parties want from their honeymoon.

Whilst it’s true that you can take off on honeymoon on a whim and go anywhere you wish, it’s not necessarily advisable for a honeymoon. Unless your time and funds are unlimited then you will wish to nail down where you will stay and how you will get yourselves there.

Some advice for helping to narrow down your honeymoon destination choice would be for you and your partner to both create your own separate lists of five of your best honeymoon packages and destination that you have seen, and if you happen to choose the same destination and honeymoon package then you’ve found your honeymoon destination. Don’t worry if you your lists don’t match up based upon the locations you’ve chosen, you can analyse both parties choices to help choose the location of your honeymoon and your honeymoon package.

One of the best honeymoon packages that couples are regularly adopting is a honeymoon gift list. The world is changing, not only are more and more exotic destinations becoming more affordable, but the way in which we can choose to pay for a honeymoon package has changed. Research has shown that many people are getting married later on in life or after living with their partners for several years, which means that they already posses many of the useful yet mundane household objects such as a dishwasher, a microwave, towels and wine racks.

To begin with you book your holiday and pay an appropriate deposit, the holiday company then sends you gift lists giving you a supply of cards mentioning that your honeymoon list will be held with that particular honeymoon company, sending these cards to as many wedding guests as you wish.

The great thing about this option is that it allows you to not only create the best possible honeymoon package, but it also becomes more affordable and allows your wedding guests and loved ones to add extra special elements to your honeymoon such as gifts whilst your on honeymoon and excursions, boat trips, spa treatments and special romantic experiences helping you enjoy the honeymoon of a lifetime.

The great thing about the honeymoon gifts is that you can add some unique experiences to your honeymoon that you may not have chosen if you were paying for the entire honeymoon yourself. With having to not pay as much money on your honeymoon it could potentially mean that more money is spent elsewhere on the wedding, on the ceremony, the venue, weddings rings or even alcohol for the reception.
