Airports Appealing to Holiday Travelers

Article by www.cheapfares.com

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

Airports now realize that they cannot sit back and simply rely on the airlines to drive passengers their way through the offer of cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages. Often there are competing airports in major metropolitan areas. Also many would be fliers are weighing the advantages of driving and not having to deal with the hassles of full body scanners and enhanced pat down procedures.

To attract travelers to their airports many airports have donned festive decorations, are offering dining and retail discounts as well as giveaways, contests, and entertainment.

The following are a few examples of what airports are doing:

? Many airports, including Fort Lauderdale, Philadelphia, and Sacramento are hosting holiday carolers, choirs and crooners. The Nashville International Airport is supporting a half dozen holiday themed performances.

? To offset the Transportation Security Administration?s warnings about trying to take wrapped gifts through security checkpoints, several airports including Philadelphia, Phoenix, and San Francisco, are offering free post security gift wrapping stations.

? The Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport is passing out free coupon books containing almost 80 discounts and/or gift with purchase offers for dining and retail outlets throughout the airport. The Las Vegas International airport is also distributing a discount holiday coupon book this holiday season.

? The holiday spirit is also being celebrated extensively overseas. The Frankfurt Airport is continuing its tradition of hosting a holiday sweepstakes for a car. At the Munich Airport nightly holiday entertainment is provided, along with free ice skating and curling rinks, and 300 Christmas trees. www.cheapfares.com

There are plenty of reasons to visit New York City over the holidays beyond cheap airplane tickets into one of its three convenient airports and discount hotel rooms.

The following are some of the activities worth checking out while in New York City:

? Grand Central Terminal Holiday Fair is an urbane market presented by the New York Times, featuring 76 unique vendors offering tasteful, unusual gifts, ranging from hand crafted jewelry to fine art and photography.

? The New York Botanical Garden Holiday Train Show exhibits a half mile train track with model trains and over 100 hand constructed miniature New York City landmarks all of which are made of plant materials.

? New York City Ballet?s world famous ?The Nutcracker performance has been a holiday tradition since the 1950s. Stunning costumes, fabulous music, and a one ton Christmas tree create a fairy tale world in which toys dance and reindeer fly.

? The Rockefeller Center is home to Rockefeller Center?s famous Christmas tree. It is a great place to rent skates and skate on the ice rink at Rockefeller Center next to the Christmas tree.

? A free, less crowded alternative is to go skating at the Pond at Bryant Park.

? New Year?s Eve in Times Square is an experience of a lifetime. www.cheapfares.com

Cruise Holiday Free Information

Is there anything more luxurious than a cruise? Travel to exotic locations on a luxury ship, catching the sun and breathe in the salty breeze to refresh and supplement, any, no matter how outdated labor concerns. However, calls for a cruise plans to be the best to.

So where to start when planning a trip cruise? First, what is your budget like? Is it necessary to control costs? Here are some tips to save on their cruise.

When planning your cruise, you should be aware that the off-season and seasons and want your stay in the off-season plan to get the best deal. What you might not know is that cruise lines actually change prices a few times during the year. To ask and find out when their absolute lowest season prices are. So, keep your plans flexible enough to allow you to change ships in the last minute.

Sometimes a ship is not completely filled when the last notes of the Cruise Line sold cheaply. It’s always going to your advantage to full capacity, because people leave money on souvenirs, drinks, etc., use this knowledge to reach an agreement very long range.

If the cruise holiday can make a big difference in cost, too. If you choose a popular place, you can travel cheaper than if you opt for the less popular. Another consideration is whether it is really important ports of call. If you stay only in the coating and the luxury of booking a cruise, not the stops to enjoy anywhere. These cruises to nowhere are just as luxurious as the others, but cost less.

To ensure on a cruise, do not take a lot more expensive equipment or jewelry. Make sure you have your passport, health insurance, and other documents to date. Be sure to inadvertently break the law may apply for the Bank when he leaves, which are used to. Laws in ports and in the same water may be different, and you do not want a big argument with a police force abroad.

Travel easier to determine which teams are on the boat. For example, if the cruise line provides irons or hair dryers, you should not sell. So pack your own sample size shampoo, toothpaste and other toiletries because these products are more in the gift shop costs. You must have access to a laundry on their cruise, so you should not have many clothes. Select a wrinkle proof lightweight computer for every two or three days to collect and separates in colors, so you can have a different look to coordinate. Be sure to pack semi-formal and formal wear, if you participate in such activities in their cruise.

Choosing a Holiday in Egypt

Choosing a Holiday in Egypt

As a youngster, my favorite author was Franklin W Dixon and the series, “The Hardy Boys”. In one of the books (I do not remember which one) Frank and Joe Hardy find themselves in trouble in a pyramid. It was there that my fascination with the ancient Egyptians began. Funny thing was I do not even think it was an Egyptian pyramid but I did not know anything about pyramids so asked my dad what they were. He went out and got me a few books from the library and I was fascinated by the culture and artwork of the ancient Egyptians. The rows and rows of hieroglyphics on the tomb walls and the amazing colours and precision of the artwork really enthralled me. I decided then and there that my first trip overseas would be to Egypt. I would see the pyramids and the sphinx, Karnak, Luxor and Abu Simbel. I would visit the temple of Philae. In short, I was going to spend a lot of time in Egypt.

Of course now, as an adult, I have had a lot more time to plan my trip and garnered a lot more ideas about how my time there will be spent. I know that I will be choosing one of the Egypt luxury holidays – I am very fond of my comfort. In fact, air conditioning at my hotel will be considered a basic essential. I am also an avid Agatha Christie fan and so will have to go on a leisurely Nile cruise. Of course, most of the Egypt luxury holidays come with those as standard. I am also a big fan of the movie “The Mummy 2″ and will have to include a hot air balloon trip over parts of Egypt. This will be another factor when choosing one of the Egypt luxury holidays.

Another one of Agatha Christie’s novels, “Murder on the Orient Express” has made me feel that travelling across Egypt by train; in a luxury train of course, would be quite a lot of fun. This is the next thing that I am looking for from any of the Egypt luxury holidays. I thought maybe of cruising down the Nile and returning by train.

Of course, the last item on the agenda would be tea at Shepheard’s Hotel in Cairo. This hotel features in just about every Elizabeth Peters’ book I have read and also features in Agatha Christie’s “Death on the Nile.” This would be my final minimum requirement in choosing one of the Egypt luxury holidays. Planning my ideal holiday in Egypt is, of course, still a work in progress. I have no doubt that I’ll see something in a movie or read something in a book that will encourage me to add something else to my itinerary but isn’t that half the fun of planning?
