Real Haunted Houses ” every city has them according to the website: RealHaunts.com. Denver is no exception to the rule. Here are just a few of the more notable places that are said to be the home of some very interesting ghosts.

THE MOLLY BROWN House in Denver. The unusual activity in this house has been reported by several employees. Hauntings include dark shadows moving about rooms when there is no light to produce them, and piano keys moving on their own, but making no sound. In this building, many people report the pungent smell of fresh cigar smoke; Mr. Brown was known to be an avid smoker of cigars.

The way the home has been restored is as close as it can be to the way Molly Brown had it when she lived in Denver. The aura of the home feels rich of the past. In the way that she and her husband takes care of the home, almost makes you think that they are welcoming you rather than trying to scare you away.

The State Capitol Building. Bet you didn’t know that the Colorado State Capitol Building is connected by a series of tunnels. Once being used for moving coal to provide a source of heating now is home to much darker reasons. A dark female figure that is known to wear long turn of the century style dresses is known to haunt the area. She roams from all the buildings and the tunnel network. Very inquisitive, the scary figure has been known to be sited reading over the shoulders of the employees that work there. And you thought politics were the scary ones haha.

BROWN PALACE Hotel in Denver. Also connected to the series of cold tunnels, this building is plagued by the incessant sound of someone coughing. It is also frequented by the same ghost that haunts the capital.

Who knows maybe she is in search for more promising news at the hotel. The food is certainly better. Bradmar Tudor Manor can be found in a extensive and private, sparsely populated area on the countryside outside the city in Denver Colorado. This Manor is located at the end of a dark long road, lined with with giant cottonwood trees. This manor is privately owned, beware the owner and their privacy.

BUCKHORN EXCHANGE Restaurant. Presently a restaurant, when the fur trade began, This building was one of the first trading posts in the area. It is said that the building is haunted by many of the traders. There have been reports of tables moving suddenly. Also, many have reported hearing voices and footsteps when no one is talking or there.

Now looking at it the only problem with a genuine haunted house is that the ghost that resides in it has to be in the mood to scare you. You might be waiting a long time to be scared. To immediately be terrified try and visit any of the Denver Haunted Houses in the area. The best of which are known for their scares are: 13th Door Haunted House, Slaughterhouse Gulch Haunt, Haunted Mansion, 25th Hour, City of the Dead and The Butcher.

Now that Halloween has finally rolled around, here is you chance to see real ghost to scare you!

by Monique Mertrandes

If you are searching for another fun-filled place to spend your vacation and escape, temporarily from all the hassles of your day-to-day activities, Breckenridge, Colorado could be the best choice for you. A mountain town, Breckenridge in Colorado is a very popular choice of those who would like to rough it up in the snow or under the sun or those who would just like to enjoy the quiet charm and beauty of the place. Even if its not your top priority, make a plan to see what Breckenridges night scene is. It would be an easy task because the choices are endless and wide-ranging in Breckenridge. Here are some suggestions you may consider to help you choose your evening hours entertainment.[I:http://phila-airport-parking.com/blog/wp-content/uploads//2009/08/MoniqueMertrandes4.jpg]

Live Entertainment: For 34 seasons, Backstage Theatre has provided Breckenridge, Colorado with high-quality theatre fare. With well-loved stories such as Easy Living and The Wizard of Oz among the summer productions, you will most likely want to see the other productions as well. Its not a bad idea since only award-winning plays are chosen for production. You will find Backstage Theatre inside the Breckenridge Theatre located at South Ridge Street.

Usually, no less than seven and not more than nine productions are staged starting the summer up to the winter seasons. Backstage Theatres productions are well attended by the community, so you are not guaranteed a seat unless you have reservations.

Food Trip: Make plans to check the food scene. Surely, there is nothing wrong with allotting time to check and enjoy the food while planning your visit to Breckenridge A wide variety of cuisine identified with other counties are offered by food establishments in Breckenridge. And, if you feel nostalgic about the old times and at the same time you wish to experience eating in a floating restaurant, go to The Dredge Boathouse, a replica of Summit Countys 1900s dredges. To make the day complete, treat yourself for some ice cream or a drink at the pub and you will go to sleep with a smile on your lips.

Blues and Drinks: Mountain towns usually have watering holes and Breckenridge makes an effort to set its bar scene at a different and higher level than those at the other similarly situated communities. Since there are over 130 bars and dining places open to the public, there are more than enough destinations should you decide on a whole night tour of the bars of Breckenridge.

Try the unique taste of local brews at Breckenridge Brewery and Pub, the recommended starting point of your bar tour. Although Avalanche Ale is good, you would want to visit Downstairs at Erics for more beer varieties. The place boasts of its wide variety of brews on stock, you have an almost perfect chance of finding the taste you like there.

After a few cold mugs, you might have eased up a bit for more excitement that live music brings. Sherpa & Yetis, a favorite among the locals, is an excellent selection for musical shows just like the acts offered by The Salt Creek Restaurant and Saloon. But if your disposition is towards some high end night out, drop by The Cellar and try their wine and tapas. Or if you prefer the relaxed atmosphere in a rustic setting, you will find it at Gold Pan, an old-style saloon.

So, whether you would like to indulge your taste buds, enjoy the quiet atmosphere, enhance your theatrical awareness, or dance to the beat of live music, Breckenridge is the place to experience a memorable night out. Where to Bike in the Central US

March 31st, 2009 No comments

They have been called the best, but to be honest, I had to leave some trails off the list that I would put up against any of these. I left these because they offer something for everybody. The Central US has so many incredible trails to offer I recommend you try to get on as many as you can. This list is a good place to start.

Colorado, Waldo Canyon. The views are breathtaking and it is absolutely impossible to be disappointed by the trails here. There aren’t many places on the planet where you feel like you can peek into heaven, Waldo Canyon is one of them. The top of the trail gives you a view above the tree line which makes you feel like omnipotent. This feeling sure comes in handy during the ride back down. Enjoy.

Palmer Park, Colorado Springs, CO. Colorado Springs is a personal favorite so I may be a bit biased about the trails here. Palmer Park offers many trails from beginner to expert. There is an added adventure element as well. There is no discernible way to navigate the park because the maps are incomplete, so you could get lost for a little while, but it is totally worth it. The rock formations impress every time.

Cache Creek to Game Creek Loop. This loop is just a little southeast of Jackson, Wyoming. In the beginning it seems a bit easy but gets tougher as it goes on. Only a couple of miles in you will realize this trail isn’t for beginners. The varied plants and wildlife add to the mystique of the place and insure that you will never get bored, no matter how many times you ride this trail.

Utah, Moab. The MOAB Brand Trails are 4 trails, each named for the different letters in MOAB. The M trail is the easiest and works it way up to B, which is the most difficult. You’ll find the M trail a little rocky, but mostly just fun. The B trail will through expert level obstacles at you like slick rock and tight turns. These trails are enough to keep you busy for a couple of days and can be fun for the whole family. It’s a beautiful place, designed for biking fun.

Austin, Texas. The Barton Creek Greenbelt is my favorite place in the great state of Texas. Not only is Austin one of the coolest, quirkiest cities you will ever have the pleasure of visiting with the right mindset this trail is a ton of fun. It is inconsistent in places and you may have to walk in some places but if you are looking for nature in the middle of an urban setting, Barton Creek is a lot of fun. If you can go during the Austin City Limits Music Festival and bike a couple of days you will have lived my dream vacation, I hope you enjoy it.

These trails are just a sampling of what the Central US has to offer. As I mentioned, it was difficult to narrow the lists down to just 5 places. I hope you get the chance to see them all. Each one is very unique and has something different to teach you. Get out there and learn all your lessons on the above amazing trails.
