Do You Want To Know How To Get Discounts On Your Air Travel

Article by Tony Morrison

It seems that if you want to get cheap air travels deals especially in this time of rising petrol, you have to equipped yourself with more airline knowledge. To get the best price and the best time to travel are talked about more often by folks who travel more frequently. Ticket costs around the World can vary significantly, but it is possible to fly to most destinations for a lot less than full standard fare; with some research and the aid of a good travel agent.

The key factor related to getting good deals is how adaptable the traveler is. If you’re flexible and willing to compromise on the day and time of year you travel, there’s a great possibility that you will get a cheap seat. By slotting people into empty seats airlines save money, so if you are agreeable to modifying your dates to suit their agenda, then you can capitalize. Many airlines charge a hefty cancellation of amendment penalty, if once you have booked a flight, decide to switch the date. One valid point to take note by being flexible is that while looking at flights, is that if you want to cancel or change a airline flight schedule, but without the additional charges, it will be better to pay the regular fare.

Frequent flyers usually win in the ‘dog eat dog’ world of airlines and airfare deals. Handing out benefits to frequent flyers is the norm for most airline companies. Passengers can earn air miles or bonuses when they stick to one carrier and you can use those bonuses to redeem for free tickets or for some other award. Due to the intense competition, many airlines have no choice but to start this scheme. Even some hotels are beginning to adopt this points rewards system.

The internet is the best-known source to find airfare deals. But you have to be careful when dealing with such online sites that are offering airline tickets at a discount. At least check if they are legitimate. Telephone the booking office for information if an office visit is not possible; one way of another, try to assess the agent’s knowledge, but never rely on email contact as the only method to deal with a reputable company. Ask straightforward questions concerning possibilities of snags having to do with their ticket deals, e.g., an unattractive stopover. Learn exactly which airline you are flying with because that is important to know.

To get cheap air travels deals, do more research on new destinations that have more flexible tariffs, and there are definitely more opening up and increasing daily. Your destination is waiting and with careful research of the airlines’ options and flexibility in mind, you will eventually get there with minimal effort.

Air Travel-Pros and Cons

As the decades have passed air travel has continually grown in popularity.  One can attribute a number of reasons for this increase in popularity and these are convenience and safety.  The following are some of the positive and negative factors involving air travel.

Disadvantage: Airplanes Cause Pollution.

The major shortcoming of air travel is the pollution caused by it. Greenhouse gases are emitted into the atmosphere by the aero planes and these gases are responsible for global warming. Global warming increases the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere and people who want to avoid such a rise in temperature are alarmed by this effect.  Many airlines are becoming friendlier to the environment to prevent the effect of global warming. One of the ways in which this is achieved by many of these airlines is to retrofit winglet devices that make the aircraft fuel efficient.  In addition, many airlines have started upgrading their fleet of aero planes to modern fuel efficient aircraft by spending millions of dollars.

Disadvantage: High Cost

High cost of travel makes many people avoid traveling by air. It is cheaper to fill up gas in your car and drive to your desired destination instead of going by flight. By flying on discount
airline
it is possible to overcome this disadvantage of high cost. You can decide to fly in case you get a very good deal on your airfare.

Disadvantage: Fear of Flying

There are a number of people who just don’t want to fly.  For anyone that has ever been on a flight that has experienced extreme turbulence or some type of other event it can be rather terrifying.

Advantage: Speed of Travel

traveling by air is much faster as compared to other means of transportation as long as these places are connected by air. Flying between two destinations in United States which are connected by air takes a few hours whereas going by car between these destinations might take a number of days. This gives you extra days for enjoying your vacations because you save a number of days by traveling by air.

Advantage: Easy to Travel Long Distances

Another major advantage in traveling by air is that you can travel to far off destinations which are difficult to traverse either by road or any other means.  We can fly to any destination around the world. Although many of these flying times are very long you will still find that the total time taken is much shorter than the time that would have been spent by using alternate modes of transportation.

Advantage:  Safety

With regards to other forms of travel, air travel is considered to be one of the safest.  Every year you will find a lot of fatal accidents occur because of car travel. Even train derailments causing deaths are also being heard of very frequently. As regards to air travel related accidents you will find that the frequency of occurrences is relatively minimal. For many people safety is the prime consideration for choosing air travel as compared to other form of transportation.

Choosing air travel is a personal decision, based on the factors discussed above along with a multitude factors not discussed here.  For most travelers safety, speed of travel and cost are the over riding factors.  As long as cost remains affordable air travel will continue to grow in popularity.

Travel Tips – Your International Airport

March 2nd, 2009 No comments

Are you planning on flying out of the country this year? If so, have you even been on an international flight before? If not, there is also a good chance that you have never been in an international airport before. Even if you have visited an international airport before, is it the same one that you are planning on flying out of for your next trip? If not, you are advised to fully research and examine the international airport that you will be using. You will find that are an unlimited number of benefits to doing so.

Perhaps, the most important reason for familiarizing yourself with the international airport that you will be flying out of is so that you can know where you are going. Most international airports do not only house international airlines, but domestic airlines as well. For that reason, most international airports are fairly large in size. In fact, some are so large that they may seem overwhelming. By taking the time to research and examine each airport facility, namely the airport terminals, you will know where to arrive, where to park, and where to wait.

If you are interested in familiarizing yourself with the layout of your international airport, you have a number of different options. Perhaps, the easiest way is to visit the online website of the international airfield in question. If you don?t already know the address of that online website, you should be healthy to find it by performing a standard internet search. Once you have arrived at the airport?s webpage, you should be healthy to find a map of the airport. Some international airports have interactive maps, but almost all airports have maps that you could easily print off your computer, if you wish to do so.

It is also advised that you examine all airport fees. These fees do not include the cost of your airline tickets, but the cost of using certain airline services or features. For instance, a large number of international airports, especially those large in size, have offsite parking. This means that the parking lots, which are often long-term lots, are not within a reasonable walking distance to the airport terminals. If this is the case, you will need to make different arrangements. Most international airports will offer shuttle rides to and from their airports, but not all are free. In the event that you will be charged for using a shuttle service, you are advised to determine that cost ahead of time.

Although it is impossible to determine the exact cost of your souvenir purchases or the cost of your food, you should be able to make a reasonable estimate. This estimate may be important, especially if you are traveling on a limited budget. By examining the shopping centers and restaurants that you will have access to, you should be able to decide how much or how little you would like to spend at the airport.

You will also want to see if the international airfield that you will be using has an estimated arrival time. Almost all airports request that you arrive at least two hours before your flight is scheduled to take off, but some international airports have other suggestions or advice for travelers. If you find that the airfield recommends arriving three hours early, you are advised to arrive three hours early. This will help to ensure that you are healthy to make your international flight. If a problem should arise and you miss your flight, it may be difficult to schedule another international flight right away; you may not only be required to move a few hours, but a few days.

As you can easily see there are a number of different reasons why you should familiarize yourself with the international airfield that you will be flying in and out of. With this research taking a maximum of a few hours, you are advised to do it; you are guaranteed to achievement away better prepared.
