Are you ready to get out and get away from it all? Have you been going stir crazy after hibernating all winter? Are you ready to relax while on a two-week vacation from work? Come along to the Caribbean, you will be so glad you did!

However in these “tight” days of a teetering economy is it really a good time to throw caution to the winds, even the Caribbean winds? Most people are pulling in their horns and would not even consider going to the Caribbean. However, if you are one of the savvy ones, you will know that if you search long enough, there’s always an answer to be found in Caribbean travel deals.

First you’ll need to pick a time for travel, especially air travel, when the demand is lowest. Don’t be afraid to use the Internet, that’s what it does best-research! Once you’ve narrowed down the dates, book the flight online too. Double check that it’s the lowest price available the same day as you book, as occasionally bargains pop up at the last minute.

Unless you find a great economy package, you need to locate lodging yourself. When you search online, you can find all sorts of bargains for a wide range of hotels and so on. You may even be able to save more money by exchanging some service for your room and board. These may include translating, computer setup, babysitting or taking care of the elderly as well as other things. Get creative, stretch your mind and budget with a multitude of possibilities.

While searching for accommodations, do not limit yourself to hotels. You may find apartments, condominiums, cottages, or bungalows with a kitchen so you can save money on meals. Perhaps, some timeshare owner needs a house sitter so their place does not sit empty. Search for timeshare owners, rent, and then rent the timeshare. Many timeshare owners are willing to rent to you at very low rates so their unit does not remain empty while they are away.

Do not forget to check eBay. At times entire packages, that are non-refundable to the original purchaser, are put up for sale. In these tough times, they go for pennies on the dollar. Of course, you’ll need to do your research on the offering as well as the seller, but it is amazing what bargains can be had! How about Craig’s List?

Traveling in groups and then splitting the costs can land you some interesting and cost efficient travel deals. You could be sitting back and relaxing in some humongous beach house with a pool, a sauna, a gourmet kitchen and a live in housekeeper for just a smidgeon of price.

At the very moment of writing this putting in “cheap Caribbean” into the search box using Google turned up an astounding 11,100,000 results. Again, let your fingers do the walking and soon you’ll be walking the soft sandy beaches of the sunny Caribbean!
